Another key method of transport for those serving at RAF Bawdsey was the bus that ran from Felixstowe Town to the Ferry. Like Charlie Brinkley, Albert Aldous, the bus driver features in stories from those who served at RAF Bawdsey. Terry Bunce, for example, remembered Albert’s bus as ‘the only bus I have ever known with a door that closed with the driver pushing a long handle next to his seat.’ Many also remembered the last bus back from Felixstowe on Friday and Saturday nights being heavily laden with service personnel returning to the station from the cinema and dances in Felixstowe.
