February 1935 Ep. 6

  • WHY

The radio signals from the Daventry transmitters were found to be reflected by the bomber and Watson Watt picked up these reflections on his receiver in his van.  The plane had been detected using electronics! This was the first success in the development of radar and subsequently the invention that saved the RAF from defeat in the 1940 Battle of Britain

The story of the first success in radar development is pictured on this bespoke mug designed exclusively for Bawdsey Radar Trust to commemorate the remarkable achievement 86 years ago.  It is for sale in the online shop at £10.99 and is a unique piece of history telling.
